Sorush, Noruz Oil Fields to Yield 20,000 to 100,000 bpd of Oil

TEHRAN -- Soroush and Norouz oil fields will yield 20,000 barrels of oil per day, which would gradually be increased to 100,000 barrels, the Oil Ministry's Public Relations Department announced on Tuesday.

The ministry said that $800 million has so far been invested to develop Sorush and Noruz oil fields.

47.4 percent of the sum amounting to more than $380 milion has so far been spent.

Under the project, some 190,000 barrels of crude oil will be obtained from Soroush and Norouz fields in a 45-month period.

Thus far equipment for early production have been provided and two wells have been revitalized. Moreover, engineering activities, installations operations, drilling and assembly of rigs have been carried out in the fields.

A total of 27 oil wells and two water wells are to be drilled.

So far the project has shown 45.8 percent progress in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 21).

The project will come on stream in august next year.
